CBSU bioinformatics support for the next generation sequencing
The Life Sciences Core Laboratories Center of Cornell University (CLC) currently provides next generation sequencing services on two platforms, 454 and Solexa. The size and complexity of data generated by these sequencers make it difficult to do post-experiment data analysis on standard desktop software. CBSU works closely with other facilities of CLC to provide comprehensive data analysis services for your project.
- Consultation on project design
As 454 and Solexa are new platforms and have wide range of applications, CBSU provides consultation on choice of platforms for your current research project, as well as exploring new grant opportunities.
- Genomic and EST sequence assembly, annotation and comparative studies
As part of the sequencing service, the sequencing facility would provide users with the assembled sequences in text files. CBSU can provide further bioinformatics services including gene annotation, statistic analysis of genomic features, and comparative studies of multiple genomes, et al.
- Research collaborations using
the next generation sequencers.
Other then genome sequencing projects, the next generation sequencing technology can also be applied to projects like evidence based micro RNA identification, SNP discovery, transcript profiling, epigenetic modification, et al. CBSU can collaborate on these projects which requires computational expertise.
- Customized data processing pipelines
For large scale genomic studies, CBSU can build customized data processing pipelines, and develop new data analysis tools for your projects.
